Chronicles the life of world famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli, from his beginning as a singer in Italian piano bars to his phenomenal success on the world stage.
Before he was Andrea Bocelli, he was Amos Bardi. Based on a true story written by Bocelli, Amos is born with the gift of superb quality of voice, yet he is also nearly blind. Eventually, he is separated from his family to enter an institute for the visually impaired but while there he suffers a terrible accident, resulting in total blindness. Driven by great ambition, Amos does not give up despite repeated challenges until he manages to achieve his first great success on stage.
From there, he begins a life studded with victories and becomes one of the most world renowned opera singers. Toby Sebastian may have found his breakthrough role as the character inspired by young Bocelli and Antonio Banderas makes the most of his time as the man who helped change Bocelli’s life forever as his vocal coach.
The film features magnificent panoramic scenery of Bocelli's native Tuscany and a superb musical score, as well as first rate performances by a fine cast. It is a must see for fans of Boccelli, and opera music in general. The film also features never before released early compositions from Bocelli, plus a personal appearance by Bocelli himself. To appeal to an international audience, the entire film, with an authentic Italian cast, is shot in English. (Not dubbed) although it was never given a UK release.
